China flies over 20 fighter jets into Taiwan air defense zone; Invasion fears grow amid Ukraine War

China’s second largest incursion into Taiwan’s air defense zone this year – 30 jets, including over 20 fighters. Taiwan scrambled aircraft and deployed air defense missile systems to monitor the latest Chinese activity. Beijing been sending large sorties into Taiwan’s defense zone, keeping Taipei’s ageing fighter fleet stressed. U.S. Senators have made Taiwan trips in a show of support; Democrat Tammy Duckworth landed in Taipei yesterday. So far in 2022, Taiwan has reported 465 incursions, a near 50% increase on the same period last year.
